Programs

We are supporting therapeutic centers where: psychotherapists are being trained in trauma and Animal Assisted Psychotherapy; patients are being offered treatment by a team of expert therapists; treatments are accessible to all; and comfortable and inviting spaces are created for individual and group therapy. Nature can promote healing for trauma survivors through Mindfulness and Grounding, a Sense of Safety, and the Building of Resilience. A number of sanctuaries have adopted Israel's Innovative Reciprocal Approach to Animal Assisted Psychotherapy which recognizes animals as subjects with emotional needs and agency, rather than as tools. Psychotherapy conducted in a sanctuary, alongside animals viewed in this way, is highly beneficial for those who have experienced trauma and PTSD. For more information about this approach, please visit The Human and Animal Institute,

Animal Assisted Psychotherapy on a rescue farm offers unique advantages. Clients realize they are not alone as they connect with animals with similar difficulties. Clients also regain a sense of trust in humanity when they see the animals being well cared for, assuring them that they, too, will receive the same level of attention and care. The healing fostered between individuals and animals is crucial in trauma recovery, creating a bond based on empathy and trust. Healing trauma through such an approach avoids the cycle of harm and PTSD.
